Seymour Sunrise with Ravens
Some snaps of an early morning bushwack on the mountain. Too busy jumping around in the snow and finding sun spots for tea to take a lot of photographs this time round. Ravens are my favourite bird so we were very happy to have these two following us around.
The Whitecaps and Johann
I thought I was the same size as them.

Women’s Olympic Soccer
Last summer the Women’s World Cup had me fixed to the television cheering like crazy and this year at the Olympics it was the same. Although I have to say I think I spent all the energy I had during the Canada vs USA game. What a game!!! I spent some time with the women’s Whitecaps squad this summer and thought I’d post a few pictures of the future Team Canada ! The short and the tall.

Our team won the league CUP!!!!!!
Sarah Burke
I just heard Sarah was injured in Salt Lake City. I met her on a photo shoot and spent the day with her around her home. Get well soon Sarah!!
Just read that Sarah has passed on. Although I only knew her from the shoot and a few emails afterwards I was deeply saddened. Clearly she was an amazing person to many people and contributed a lot of positive energy to the world around her. I saw some of that last winter in Squamish.
Here are a few extra photographs from that day. Rip it up in heaven Sarah!
Winter Training
Our team trains in the winter late when the cold fog comes off the lake and there is no one around. I love the light and the isolated moments.

I absolutely love these shots!
Night Game
Hardly Magazine
I already posted a few shots but here’s the actual layout and links.
These are some photos and interviews I did for a feature on young female surfers in Tofino. I had to go up and find the subjects – guy looking for young female surfers to photograph, classic. Send Johann! All the girls I met had interesting stories and were very friendly. Unfortunately I could only stay there for the two days this time as I was on a roll and everyone was starting to recognize me and getting used to calling me up for sessions and tacos.
I’m going back for more though.
And I just spent the weekend at Sombrio in the water, so I’ll be a bit more wave ready now too.
Thanks to the Surf Sisters!! Go there if you want to get some great lessons with some awesome girls.

West Coast Morning
The Half Man Half Fish
Just found this from last fall of some of our soccer team. The mighty Fish!
The trophy case is getting full!
Tofino surfer girls.
Sarah Burke with Sarah Burke
Just saw this on the on Shay Will’s blog. It was cute so I wanted to file it away here.

Sugoi !
Snow, mist and cycling! Photographed a rider wearing Sugoi apparel on location in Vancouver, Canada.
Soccer in the snow!
A sudden blizzard came into town and all the games were cancelled but we somehow managed to drive through the treacherous snow laden roads and get out onto the pitch for a game! The Fish are always the first to go for it. Just do it !
Great weekend !
The Cheaper Show was a huge success. Thousands of people came through, all my work sold, great atmosphere. Cherry Vega took some photos and I saw one with two of my prints and someone looking at them! My soccer team won 6-2. Germany won their game as well !

There’s a post about the show here on the Karacters blog. I missed Jack Black.

New Players !!
I’m managing a soccer team now that I’ve played on for a number of years here in Vancouver. We have an engaging mix of nationalities and personalities. Here are a couple of new Fish for the Spring/Summer season. We won the cup this year which was amazing. The Half Man Half Fish have gone from the ragged last place team to first place champions !
Buck Pearce is leaving the Lions
This was shot for a magazine cover as they were both vying for starting quarterback spot. Both of them were cool guys.
And they had great football names as well – Jarius Jackson and Buck Pearce.
3 weeks of Soccer in the Rain !

Our team after 3 weeks of playing in the rain. Nice mustaches.
After the game
Jack fell out the window last night at 4 30 am
and survived to go and get into a scrap with the neighbourhood bully, a surly Siamese.
Baptiste played his last game with my team yesterday. This is a snap of him with Junya the Magic Foot at practice.

Also I used the team for the recent OSB campaign and they are starting to show up around town on bus shelters and billboards.
